Black Disability Histories: Reflections, Narratives, Futures

March 16, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Join at The Hub – UTSC, for a conversation about neurodiversity, disability and racial justice with youth from the Youth Alliance for Intersectional Justice (YAIJ).

This event, hosted by the EDIO, is led by youth who are “intimately knowledgeable about life at the intersections” (YAIJ). You will hear and learn from youth with firsthand experiences of disability and racialization. Recognizing that neurodiversity can be understood through an assets-based perspective, this conversation will re-define and illuminate difference as strength. You will learn more about how to meaningfully cultivate spaces that welcome neurodiverse and racialized youth in a way that reaches beyond accommodation. At UTSC, prioritizing intentional inclusion means deepening our understanding of multiple perspectives and knowledge through experiential learning within and beyond the academy.

If you have any questions or requests to best accommodate your participation, please contact the event co-ordinator (edio.utsc@utoronto.ca).
