Announcement: Advisory Committee – Vice-Dean First Year & Call for Nominations

March 22, 2021

In accordance with Section 84 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, Dean Yip has appointed a special committee to advise him on the appointment of a Vice-Dean First Year.

Reporting to the Dean, the Vice-Dean First Year works closely with the Vice-Dean Undergraduate, providing strategic leadership on aspects of Retention and Transition, First Year Curriculum and First Year Student Experience.  The Vice-Dean First Year works collaboratively with the members of the First Year Office, the Senior Academic Leadership team, the Registrar, the Faculty administrative units, members of the Faculty Council Standing Committees, and other members of the University community to advance the mission of the Faculty.

The composition of the advisory committee is as follows:

Glenn Hibbard, Chair, Materials Science and Engineering

In accordance with Section 84 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, Dean Yip has appointed a special committee to advise him on the appointment of a Vice-Dean Strategic.

This is a newly created academic administrative role in the Faculty.  Reporting to the Dean, the Vice-Dean Strategic will work closely with the Vice-Deans Research, First Year, Undergraduate and Graduate.  The Vice-Dean Strategic provides leadership on all aspects of strategic importance to FASE, including but not limited to, infrastructure, collaboration and institutional initiatives.  The Vice-Dean Strategic works collaboratively with all members of the Senior Academic Leadership team, the Registrar, the Faculty administrative units, members of the Faculty Council Standing Committees, and other members of the University community to advance the mission of the Faculty.

Announcement: Advisory Committee – Associate Dean, Cross-Disciplinary Programs & Call for Nominations

On June 30, 2021, Professor Bryan Karney will be stepping down as Associate Dean, Cross-Disciplinary Programs. In accordance with Section 100 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, Dean Yip has appointed a special committee to advise him on a possible candidate for the role.

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean, Cross-Disciplinary Programs (AD-CDP) works closely with the Vice-Dean Undergraduate, providing strategic leadership on all aspects of the Faculty’s cross-disciplinary programs. The AD-CDP works collaboratively with the members of the First Year Office, the Senior Academic Leadership team, the Registrar, the Faculty administrative units, members of the Faculty Council Standing Committees, and other members of the University community to advance the mission of the Faculty.
