Experts at ISTEP, an institute dedicated to professional capacity-building for engineers, work with companies to offer custom professional skills training to technical teams. Whether it’s a single workshop or a multi-week program, teams leave empowered to lead.

Industry networking opportunities

Community of Practice on Engineering Leadership: Join a growing number of industry professionals in a unique forum at U of T Engineering to exchange ideas, learn from one another and build networks. As a member, you’ll also have unique opportunities to engage with and increase your company's brand profile among engineering students who are committed to leadership development. 

Canadian Robotics Council: The council is a collective national voice and point of contact for robotics in Canada, with a mandate to connect robotics and its adjacent sectors into a true ecosystem that encourages mutual collaboration, research, and product development. 

Annual partnerships networking event: Each year, the U of T Engineering partnerships team organizes a networking event to celebrate current and future partnerships in engineering research, education and community-building.

Professional master's degree

Whether you’re early in your career or a seasoned professional, a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree provides the technical competencies to accelerate your career with the option to develop specialized skills through one of 12 industry-relevant emphases — from data analytics & machine learning to robotics to sustainable energy 

Flexibility is a hallmark of this degree with a range of MEng pathways and routes to completion. You can complete your MEng in one year of intensive full-time study, over two years in the extended full-time option or part-time — a great option for working professionals. 

Most courses are offered weekdays and in person at U of T’s St. George campus during the fall and winter sessions, but there are courses offered online, on weekends and in the evenings, as well as during the summer term. 

U of T’s School of Continuing Studies

Engineering courses and certificates 

U of T Engineering partnered with U of T’s School of Continuing Studies to offer a line-up of courses and micro-courses for practicing engineers. By taking certain collections of courses, you can work toward a certificate in areas such as Energy Management or Facilities Management 

We also offer a Licensing International Engineers into the Profession (LIEP) Program in the areas of civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. The LIEP programs are perfect for internationally educated engineering graduates who want to acquire their P.Eng. license to practice as a professional engineer in Canada.

Additional Courses and Programs

U of T Engineering offers a range of opportunities to further your learning in specialized areas, including:

  • The Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT) offers a Microfluidics Professional Course. Running from July 9 to 11, 2025, this in-person crash course is perfect for industrial researchers who have little or no experience in the microfluidics field.   
  • Mining Industry Management Program within the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering offers online courses and asynchronous learning opportunities for professionals in the mining sector
