Welcome, new students! The First Year Office and your departments are hosting a number of free orientation events on Wednesday, August 28 & Thursday, August 29, 2024. All incoming first-year engineering students are welcome to attend (F!rosh week registration is not required).

9:30–11 a.m. Welcome to Engineering Presentations
Join us for a Welcome to Engineering Session, hosted by the First Year Office academic advising team. This session will help you to understand the first-year experience and your next steps as a new student. Open to all incoming first-year engineering students.

Join your new classmates for Departmental Presentations and a free lunch with your department. This is a great chance to meet fellow first-year students in your engineering program and connect with key staff and faculty members.

1:30–2 p.m. and 2–2:30 p.m. Engineering Computing Facilities (ECF) Orientation
Did you know that you have access to an amazing system of computing facilities here at U of T Engineering? Join us in one of our computer labs to get familiar with the services and facilities that you have access to! These 30-minute orientation sessions are drop-in, so make sure to attend one on either August 28 or 29.

30-minute sessions at 1, 1:30, 2 & 2:30p.m. Frosh MYFab Workshop
Come to MYFab for a 30-minute hands-on exploration of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering makerspace. You will be able to build and decorate your own laser cut Minecraft character and get a custom nametag (include your text in the Notes section when you sign up), learn what you can do at the space and how to gain access for your coursework and beyond.
Register through MyFab Central Bookings and select the “FROSH Activity” option.
Capacity: 30 students. Pre-registration is preferred and encouraged. Walk-ins will be subject to availability.

2–3 p.m. International Student Meet & Greet
Are you an international student or newcomer to Canada, joining U of T Engineering this Fall? Join us for this international student orientation event! It will be an hour of games, food, prizes, important information to help you as you adjust to life in Toronto, and a Q&A session with current students and alumni who have been in your shoes. Brought to you by the First Year Office and the E-Buddy program.
Please note that all are welcome to attend, but registration will guarantee that your food preferences are accounted for.
