TransPod Information Session

February 8, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

1000-km/h aerospace vehicles, and TransPod ultra-high-speed transportation:  Research, Engineering, and Design

Info Session details:

Date: Tuesday, February 8, 2022

Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Location: Zoom

Registration Link:  https://forms.office.com/r/MGLZVCZZUM

Targeted Audience: Graduating students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, EngSci (Aerospace, Electrical & Computer, Energy Systems, Engineering Physics, Robotics), Ecology, Architecture, Master of Engineering, MASc/PhD Applied Science & Engineering

This talk will be of interest to professors and students, in ECE, UTIAS, EngSci, MIE, CIV, MSE, physics, architecture, and environmental sciences.  Flight control systems, propulsion, and infrastructure, all come together in this multidisciplinary talk.

The TransPod system — an ultra-high-speed transportation line — is being designed for passenger transportation at over 1000 km/h.  Operating like a subway, the TransPod line will be 3 times as fast as a high-speed train.  Advanced new research is being developed by universities, labs, and manufacturers, across North America and Europe, including magnetic propulsion, plasma physics, materials, and environmentally sustainable construction, architecture, and landscape design.  The Government of Alberta is officially supporting this project, including a future TransPod line between Calgary and Edmonton.

The new TransPod vehicle will be unveiled to the public in the coming months.  Get a sneak preview of the research behind this technology.

The talk will be multidisciplinary, and of interest to faculty, students, and research labs which may be interested in collaborations.  New positions are also available for future career opportunities.  Please attend if you wish to apply for a position or simply learn more about the advanced research, engineering, and design.

Recruiting information:

If you seek deep engineering challenges, in a dynamic environment with leading new technology, this job may be for you. If you are excited by supersonic vehicles, advanced systems for megawatt electrical power, and advanced electronics to control a 1000 km/h vehicle, you have an opportunity to push your skills to the limit, contribute to a major project, and learn from leading experts, including Ph.D.s and professors from around the world.

Our goal is to give you an opportunity to be at the forefront of new technology — advanced aerospace vehicles, cutting-edge science and technology — and to be part of a major international project with a team across Europe and Canada, contributing to responsible urban design, transportation solutions, and fossil-fuel-free green technology.
